Infertility During the Holidays

IVF Doesn’t Have to Be the Main Course this Thanksgiving

Trying to conceive can be a challenge, both physically and emotionally. The holiday season can trigger anxiety for anyone planning for IVF, but our Kansas City fertility center team reminds you to focus on each other this Thanksgiving and move IVF to the back burner.

Time off from work, and from the rigors of treatment, gives you the opportunity to reconnect with your partner, your friends and your family.

Enjoy Couple Time and Your Family this Thanksgiving

We understand the urgency — the feeling of wanting so badly to become parents. Make a pact with your partner to not discuss IVF during your Thanksgiving festivities. There’s plenty of time for that later.

This holiday season may be your last one without a child. You can make the most of it and truly shower your partner with attention and love. Go to your favorite museum one day, run a Turkey Trot or book a date at a restaurant you’ve been dying to try together. Go to a comedy show, or spend the day binge-watching Netflix at home. Spend the day on a hike. Count your blessings this Thanksgiving.

Gratitude during IVF

Infertility is stressful. Find ways to relax this holiday season. What do you love? What calms and relaxes you? Book a massage, go to a yoga class, take a long bath, read a good book, or go see a movie. Fill your own cup and watch love overflow.

Gratitude is a great practice, and gratitude brings abundance. Make a list of the things you’re thankful for. Once you start, you can usually find more and more things to love about the life you have right now.

At our Kansas City fertility center, we are grateful to work with inspiring men and women who are devoted to becoming parents. We are also thankful for IVF advances such as PGS and ICSI that have revolutionized the field of reproductive medicine and make pregnancy possible.

Happy Thanksgiving from the clinical care team at Midwest Reproductive Center. If you’re trying to conceive and would like a fertility evaluation, contact us for an appointment with Dr. Dan Gehlbach. He can help you determine the best treatment for your fertility.
